My Favorite Hobby

What is your favorite hobby or pastime?

What I like to do is fix up store shelves.

I can’t help it. My kids ridicule me. Their kids ridicule me. My wife makes believe she doesn’t know me.

But having retired after almost 50 years in retail, I cannot help it.

I especially like it when we are kept waiting for our flu shots in the Pharmacy. That’s right up my alley. I go shelf to shelf, aisle to aisle, facing off all the merchandise.

Living in Brooklyn, however, more and more merchandise is being locked behind security plexiglass, making my job more difficult.

One time an off duty cop asked me, “What the hell are you doing?”

I explained we were waiting for our shots.

The cop suspiciously replied, “Who’s we?”

I pointed out my wife, patiently sitting in the Pharmacy department.

She immediately looked away.

    So the kitchen cupboards / pantry also subjected to this, or are they off limits? 🤔

      Home is mostly a separate entity, although I do rotate the toilet paper rolls. The hobby only kicks in when in a store.

        Interesting like PTSD 😀

        So, do the staff appreciate your efforts?

        As far as eccentric activities go I feel this one is mostly harmless, unless they have OCD and your facing off is not aligned with their concept of perfect…

        It probably is a form of PTSD. I did it for many years while working. Now, I HAVE to do it.
